If you are a Stolen Generations Survivor, you could be entitled to a $75,000 reparation payment from the NSW Government. Applications for the NSW Stolen Generations Reparations Scheme have been extended to 30 June 2023. Community legal centres can help you apply now.

What does the scheme provide?

The Scheme provides eligible Stolen Generations survivors with:

  • Up to $75,000 ex gratia payments.
  • $7,000 one-off payments from the Funeral Assistance Fund.
  • A personal apology from a representative of the NSW Government, if requested.

Who is eligible?

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are living survivors of the Stolen Generations may be eligible for assistance. The scheme provides reparations to people who were removed by, committed to, or otherwise came into the care of the New South Wales Aborigines Protection or Welfare Boards under the Aborigines Protection Act 1909, up until the Act was repealed on 2 June 1969.
