As clients increasingly exercise their rights to access personal information held about them under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), community legal centres need to rethink how they approach file notes and client records.
This practical session explores the implications of privacy access requests for day-to-day record keeping and provides guidance on writing file notes that are factual, objective, professional and fit for disclosure.
Is your Centre ready to hand over everything to your clients on request? If not, this session will help you identify the risks and adopt better file-note practices for a more transparent privacy era.
