We're hiring: Locum Capacity Building Coordinator (part-time)

Community Legal Centres NSW is looking to employ a part-time (3-days per week) locum Capacity Building Coordinator (CBC) position for 20 weeks from January 2021 to end of May 2021. The position, reporting to the Executive Director, is available while our Coordinator is on long service leave.

Your key responsibilities during this period will be:

  • Coordination of programs for February and May Quarterly events. These are important sector gatherings (currently happening online) with over 200 sector workers and volunteers participating each event. You will work with CLCNSW staff and sector network convenors to develop program content and source presenters and ensure appropriate communications and administrative arrangements.
  • Coordinate the legal training and management training that usually follows the Quarterly events. You will need to identify sector needs and source speakers for relevant training.
  • Oversee the Sector ICT Program, liaising with our ICT service provider (mcrIT) and convening regular ICT Advisory Group meetings to ensure that centres are receiving from mcrIT the ICT supports that CLCNSW has purchased on behalf of our members. This work involves contract management and sector engagement rather than ICT expertise, although a working knowledge of ICT will be a bonus.
  • Overseeing implementation of training for sector workers and volunteers. The training program for the first half of 2021 is still to be finalised and additional training providers will need to be contracted.
  • The CBC also manages other projects that support sector capacity building. Current ongoing projects include impact evaluation and governance strengthening. There will be opportunities for you to pursue these activities out of interest and assist with other projects as need arise.

You will require the following capacities:

  1. An understanding of the community legal centres sector and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with sector workers and volunteers
  2. A sound understanding of the social justice issues relevant to the work of our movement, and an interest in using the quarterlies to progress our work in these areas
  3. Project management skills and a basic understanding of ICT needs of under-resourced community based organisations
  4. Capacity to be self-managing and to hit the ground running
  5. Demonstrated capacity to work with the communities who rely on community legal centres, particularly First Nations communities.

Salary is paid at Community Legal Centres NSW Enterprise Agreement Grade 6 $90,041- $99,267 pro rata. Community Legal Centres NSW provides generous conditions and offers a welcoming and supportive work environment.

Expressions of interest addressing the capacities above should be forwarded to the Office Manager at CLCNSW officemanager@clcnsw.org.au by COB Monday 14th December 2020.
