The Board of Community Legal Centres NSW (CLCNSW) is excited to announce the new Executive Director for the organisation. Tim Leach will start as Executive Director of CLCNSW on Monday 12 February 2018, coming to the sector with a wide range of skills and experience.
There are many legal and social barriers currently effecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. One of the most pressing is the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our prisons. The Australian Law Reform Commission was asked to examine the factors that contribute to this and to consider law reform that would address this crisis.
Community Legal Centres in NSW are concerned that new child protection laws passed last night will see children removed from their family when it may not be in the child’s best interests.
Pending Federal funding cuts to community legal centres across Australia will put some of the most vulnerable people in the country at further risk of harm. Community Legal Centres NSW is calling on the Federal Government to commit to reversing the cuts, in light of support from the NSW Attorney General and commitments from the Labor Party.
