Coaching Conversations
People with responsibility for managing community legal centres often manage the human resources function for the centre as well as all the operations. This management training day is aimed at centre managers, coordinators or managing principle solicitors who are often called upon to handle some challenging situations with their direct reports. Many conversations are crucial to motivation and performance and the difference in outcome between a conversation handled well, and one handled poorly, can be huge.
Coaching Conversations provides managers with a toolkit for handling crucial conversations. It draws from a range of theories that inform coaching practice and provides frameworks for planning and executing conversations. Scenarios covered in the course include conversations to:
- build motivation
- build confidence
- give specific feedback
- performance manage
- deliver bad news
Target audience: CEOs , Centre Managers, Coordinators or Managing Principal Solicitors who have HR responsibility for community legal centre staff.
Training day features
- Grounded in leading, evidence based theories
- Highly interactive, involving case studies, role plays and group discussions.
- Case study scenarios are based on typical Community Legal
- Centre challenges.
- Emphasis on practical application and skills development.
At the end of the training day participants should walk away with:
- An understanding of essential coaching skills including listening and relationship building skills
- Frameworks for planning and conducting a range of challenging conversations
- Hands-on practice conducting difficult conversations with feedback from the instructor and other participants
- An understanding of good HR practice with respect to documenting performance management
